how to do inclusion
Workshops for Companies (big and small)
We help people and businesses become more inclusive.
It's a rather lofty ideal but we've decided to pursue it anyways.
And you...
You're here because the world turned upside down and things have changed. And your business... that's got to change too. More inclusion, deeper awareness, better culture, greater equity.
If feel ready to bring our brand of content to your team, then this may be the perfect first step for you.

what's this about?

The truth is: Inclusion isn’t something we do; it’s a way of being. However, we recognize that we live in a world of exclusion that has systematically created barriers and biases; whether that’s discrimination, racism, sexism, or other inequities. You can start being inclusive by building your own inclusive practice. Our program has three parts that build on top of each other – from the individual level to a discussion of systemic forces, to implications for your practice.

the
problem
We believe in the goodness of people, but in our opinion, if you’ve been unconsciously excluding, you can’t jump straight to conscious inclusion. It takes time and effort. If you’ve been longing to make a change, but struggling to figure out the how, this program is a great place to start.

why us?
Why this program? Each of us has experienced the uncomfortable reality of exclusion; discrimination, sexism, racism… the list goes on. When we haven’t been the victim ourselves, we’ve witnessed the challenges others have faced. As a group of self-starters, we dug deep to find solutions. We became inclusive design experts. We held deep conversations with marginalized folks and community experts. And finally, we began to understand how to walk the path of an inclusive leader.

our solution
A unique framework for practicing inclusion and being an inclusive leader. Our DCI (dignity, compassion, inclusion) + design framework emphasizes universal human dignity and compassionate co-creation through the application of more inclusive community-based methods. Our workshops and educational content break this framework into accessible and actionable portions.

the breakdown
Here's how our workshop works.
Part 1 (Individual Change):
This section is designed for the individual who is open to expanding their awareness and adopting new perspectives.
We will focus on:
-
Unlearning and questioning and the world around us.
-
An introduction to the concepts of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB).
-
The concept of “no average” – deconstructing the culturally reinforced idea of “average” and asserting that no human being is as they seem.
-
Learning how to build a “diverse diet” in your daily life.
At the end of this session, you will have an understanding of appropriate language and the tools to start a journey of self-reflection and an inclusive practice.
Part 2 (Systems & Structures):
This section moves beyond the individual and dives into systemic exclusion and structural barriers.
We will focus on:
-
How historical events impact present day issues.
-
Recognition of these barriers by deconstructing the world around us.
-
Approaching human difference in light of inequitable structures and systems.
At the end of this session, you will have an awareness to systemic issues and learn how to see universal problems.
Part 3 (Inclusive Practices):
This section builds on the previous two, introducing inclusive practices.
We will focus on:
-
Participatory methods for communicating and creating alongside historically-excluded groups of people – specifically community-based co-design.
-
Deepening our understanding of how many seemingly well-meaning things in society are (or can be) oppressive to entire communities
-
Equipping you to move from intention to action (while being mindful of impact).
At the end of this session, you will have practical tools for co-creating more wholeness and inclusion in the world.
If you’re a compassionate, values-led and open-minded organization, looking to deepen your team's understanding around diversity and inclusion – let us help you!
